On 19th of April 2007, exactly ten years ago, chess training in Pune, Maharashtra and India received a huge boost. Two siblings who had conquered Indian chess by their amazing performances decided to establish a chess academy. Abhijit and Mrunalini Kunte together founded the Kunte's Chess Academy (KCA). Over the period of ten years KCA has created numerous champions and contributed to the growth of Indian chess. ChessBase India pays its respect to this great institution by organizing a blitz tournament. Be a part of this celebration!

How an 1826 player outplayed a 2545 GM

At the third round of the Sardar Prakash Singh Memorial rating tournament that is in progress in Sonipat, Haryana, 12-year-old Aaryan Varshney was up against the top seed GM Swapnil Dhopade. The grandmaster from Maharashtra went to the game with great confidence. After all he is well known to win such Swiss tournaments in India. The crowd and Swapnil were in for a shock as Varshney displayed highest calibre of chess and managed to defeat his opponent rated 700 points above him! Check out the game to know how this happened.

This time it was the list of students for the Jacob Aagaard training session in Kolkata! Aagaard's trip in the city of joy was just for two days, but the amount of work that was done was quite phenomenal. Sharjah Masters: Adhiban and Sethu best among Indians

Sharjah Masters tournament attracted a fair number of strong grandmasters and talented youngsters from across the world, but the majority were from India. For most, it was a chance to play two successive tournaments (this event was followed by Dubai Open that ends today). Wang Hao of China was the winner, but two Indians—Adhiban and Sethuraman—took a share of the first prize pie.

3rd Karnataka State Open Rapid Tournament

Universal Chess Academy (R) and Rainbow Club Kidz Library, Malleswaram, Bangalore invited players for their 3rd Karnataka State Open Rapid Chess tournament which was conducted on 2-April-2017, it was held at Shri R Gundu Rao Sports Complex, Sirur Park Road, Sheshadripuram, Bangalore which was opposite to extremely famous Mantri Mall.  It was one day exciting rapid tournament of 9 rounds with INR 50,000.00/- cash prizes and 32 trophies for age category winners. It was won by our very own Arvind Shastry (ELO 2272) by scoring whopping 8.5/9 points. Total 278 players participated including IM Hegde Ravi Gopal.
