Zhu Jiner vs Nodirbek Abdusattorov (0-1)
This was the first classical clash between Zhu Jiner and Nodirbek Abdusattorov; before this game, both players had just played online rapid and blitz games. The game started with Abdusattorov playing the Caro-Kann, and Jiner opted for an Advance variation. Abdusattorov managed to secure a good position in the opening and converted the game easily after Jiner made a huge mistake. Check out the Jiner's blunder below.

Responding to 22...Ne7, Jiner played 23.Nd4? which turned out to be a game-losing mistake as the Queen on c3 is overloaded (defending 2 squares at the same time). Abdusattorov played 23.Rc8 and captured the pawn on b2 on the next move.

Andy Woodward vs Nils Grandelius (1-0)
This was the second classical battle between Andy Woodward and Nils Grandelius, both players played in the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025, and that game ended in a draw. Here at TePe, the game started with Queen's Gambit Declined, and the game was heading towards an opposite-coloured bishop endgame, which can eventually end in a draw, but Nils rushed to trade the rooks and blundered a pawn and lost in the endgame. Check out the critical moment.

Nils played 26...Rd8? and missed an intermediate check. Andy played 27.Bb4+ followed by 28.Rxd8, and then he placed his bishop on f8 to capture one of the pawns on the king's side.

Magnus Carlsen vs Arjun Erigaisi (0.5-0.5)
It was a solid game between both players, and Arjun managed to hold Carlsen for a draw after both players decided to repeat the moves after 36 moves in a completely closed position with knights on the board.

Jorden van Foreest vs Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus (0.5-0.5)
This was the 4th clash between these two players; in the most recent clash at the Tata Steel Masters 2026, Yagiz won against Jorden. In the first round of TePe, both players played solid chess and repeated the moves to draw the game in 30 moves.
