Kumaresh A wins International Rating Chess Fiesta Classical Rating 2026
Kumaresh A of Tamil Nadu scored 8/9 points to win the International Rating Chess Fiesta (Grand Prix) Classical Chess tournament. Ashutosh Jamwal of Jammu and Kashmir scored 7.5/9 and secured 2nd place after he defeated Kumaresh in the final round. Prakash Ram and Sumit Grover scored 7/9 to finish in 3rd and 4th place, respectively, according to their tiebreak scores. The tournament was organised by the Jammu District Chess Association with the support of Premier Chess Academy from 26th to 31st March 2026 at IDPS school, Jammu. Kumaresh's 1st rating tournament triumph of 2026
Going into the last round, Kumaresh was leading the tournament with 8/8 points and had already won the tournament with one round to spare. In the last round, he got paired up against Ashutosh Jamwal, who was on 6.5/8 points, and Ashutosh defeated Kumaresh to secure 2nd place.
