Sarath City Mall Hyderabad, in association with ChessBase India, invites chess lovers in Hyderabad to be a part of the first-ever Giant Rapid Chess Tournament. The event has a total prize fund of Rs. 27,000. The first prize is Rs.10,000 + Chess at DreamHack Pass of Rs.1299. The event is organized by Sarath City mall and there are no entry fees. All sixteen participants, who will be selected, will go back home with prizes ranging from Rs.500 to Rs.10,000. The two finalists will be awarded a free pass for Chess at Dreamhack for 3 days. Aimchess Rapid Finals: Jan-Krzysztof Duda wins the first set

The FIDE World Cup 2021 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda defeated Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the first set of Aimchess Rapid 2022 Finals. Duda started the day with a draw, then he won the next game. The third game was an exciting draw. The Poland no.1 once again won the fourth game. Both wins were scored convincingly where the World no.19's precise play induced mistakes by the World no.13. Mamedyarov still has a chance to fight back in the second set of finals. Who will win the Aimchess Rapid - Duda or Mamedyarov? Kunal clinches Hatsun - Idhayam 6th SCS Rating Open 2022

Third seeded M Kunal scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 to win Hatsun - Idhayam 6th SCS Rating Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Despite being held to a draw in the second round, Kunal registered six consecutive victories between round three and eight to become the champion. Dinesh Rajan M, R Shadhursshaan and Manigandan S S scored 7/8 each. They were placed second to fourth according to tie-breaks. This was Kunal's third tournament victory in-a-row. He won UDC Cup 2nd Rapid Rating Open and 1st SRM Rapid Rating Open in consecutive months. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. Sairudra Nagvekar wins Rotary All Goa Rapid Rating Open 2022

14-year-old Sairudra Nagvekar scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Rotary All Goa Rapid Rating Open 2022. Sairudra defeated Devendra Anand Naik in the final round. He was at 8/8 then. Even after a final round loss, Devendra finished second due to better tie-break score. 13-year-old Netra P Savaikar who also scored 8/9 and remained undefeated, was placed third. The top three prizes were ₹11000, ₹8000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each respectively. Aimchess Rapid QF: Carlsen wins the Tour with a tournament to spare

Arjun Erigaisi had a decisive advantage for the better part against Carlsen in their first game of Aimchess Rapid Quarterfinals. The world champion managed to save the game after the teenager missed few good opportunities. The world no.1 won the next two games to win the match, advance to the Semifinal and win Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season with a tournament to spare. Both Vidit and Gukesh started the day with a draw against Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Richard Rapport respectively. Vidit lost the next games, whereas Gukesh won the second and then went down in the two games. Arvinder Preet Singh clinches XIX Calvia Amateur Open 2022

Arvinder Preet Singh scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win XIX Calvia Amateur Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. The former World Amateur champion drew with the eventual runner-up Paul A Hutchinson (ENG) 7/9 and defeated the second runner-up, FM Juan David Becerra (COL) 7/9. This is his first tournament triumph since November 2018 when he won the National Amateur championship. The total prize fund of the tournament was €5720. Aimchess Rapid R13-15: Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi and Vidit Gujrathi advance to the Quarterfinals

Vidit Gujrathi finally broke his jinx. He defeated David Anton Guijarro in the final round of Prelims to advance to the Quarterfinals of a Meltwater Champions Chess Tour event for the very first time. Also, thanks to Arjun Erigaisi's win over Anish Giri, that played a key role in Vidit securing his spot in the Knockout stage. FIDE World Cup 2021 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda scored 28/45 to claim the pole position of Aimchess Rapid Prelims. The unfortunate incident of Priyanka Nutakki at the World Juniors 2022

Priyanka Nutakki was the top rated Indian player at the World Junior Championships 2022 in the girls section. The event is taking place in Sardinia, Italy from the 11th to 23rd of October 2022. Something quite unfortunate happened with her. After winning her sixth round game and reaching a score of 5.0/6, Priyanka's result against her opponent was overturned and she was expelled from the tournament. What happened? Raunak Sadhwani dominates 3rd La Nucia Open 2022

GM Raunak Sadhwani scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 3rd La Nucia International Open 2022. He finished a full point ahead of the field. In the final round, he scored a smashing victory against Spain no.7 GM Daniil Yuffa in just 20 moves. GM Karen Grigoryan (ARM) and IM Ernesto J Fernandez Guilen (CUB) scored 7/9 each to secure second and third place respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament €11000. The top three prizes were €3000, €2000 and €1000 along with a trophy each. Raunak was the sole Indian participating in this edition and for the second consecutive year an Indian player won this event. S L Narayanan wins Fagernes Autumn GM 2022, Abhimanyu Puranik second

GM S L Narayanan scored an unbeaten 7/9 to win Fagernes Autumn GM 2022. GM Abhimanyu Puranik and GM Anton Demchenko also scored the same. However, they were placed second and third according to tie-breaks. Top three prizes were €2400, €1600 and €800 each respectively. GM Sethuraman S P scored sole 6.5/9 to finish fourth. GM Praggnanandhaa and GM Sasikiran scored 6/9 each. They secured sixth and seventh place. IM Vaishali R and IM Padmini Rout scored 5/9 each. They shared the Best Woman prize.
