Eleven players share the lead with 3.5 points at the conclusion of Round 4 in VII Sunway Sitges Open. All top three boards ended up in draws in Round 4. Although GM Nicholas Checa was winning against GM Jules Moussard for the better part of the game, but he could not convert it. GM Nino Batsiashvili scored a fantastic win against GM Karen Grigoryan. IM Leon Mendonca was held to a draw by FM Mahel Boyer and Souhardo Basak lost to IM Hans Niemann. Sunway Sitges Open R3: Korobov concedes a draw

Top seed Anton Korobov was held to a draw by Spanish GM Marc Narciso Dublan. Defending champion Korobov had an extra pawn but he couldn't keep it and Dublan managed to find a perpetual check to make a draw. Only six players are at 100% score at the conclusion of Round 3. Leon played the endgame brilliantly to beat Victor Alvarez and Souhardo held IM Christophe Sochacki to a draw, although he had a winning opportunity. First FIDE Online World Corporate Chess Championship announced

Covid-19 pandemic has drastically reduced the number of over-the-board tournaments. However FIDE continues to evolve and adapt to changing circumstances. In one of the firsts, FIDE announced about the first edition of FIDE Online World Corporate Championship which will take place online between 19th and 21st February 2021. This will be a good opportunity for corporates to increase team bonding, sense of belonging to their workplace and a chance to showcase their talent among friends, coworkers and peers. Sunway Sitges Open R2: Korobov survives a scare

Top seed Anton Korobov survived a massive scare against IM Jesus Martin Duque. Eventually Korobov won from a completely lost position. Armenia no.4 Karen Grigoryan won the Blitz event with a score of 7.5/9. Untitled Souhardo Basak held former Women's world champion GM Antoaneta Stefanova to a draw. IM Leon Mendonca lost to WGM Laura Unuk. 22 players are in the lead with a 100% score at the completion of Round 2. Sunway Sitges Open R1: Top seeds make a smooth start

The 7th edition of the over-the-board tournament, Sunway Sitges International Open started on Sunday 13th December. Defending champion and newly crowned Ukraine champion GM Anton Korobov is the top seed of the tournament. IM Leon Mendonca's journey to become India's latest GM is still on as he just needs his final GM-norm. Souhardo Basak is the only other Indian taking part in Group A, he is looking for his final IM-norm and touch the 2400 rating barrier. Aravindh wins One Belt One Road International Open

Generally when someone wins a major event, they tend to take a break for a while. That's not how Aravindh is. He is the reigning National Triple Crown champion and after winning Gold in FIDE Online Olympiad, he did not slow down one bit. After a historic Gold at the Online Olympiad, he led Team India win Silver at 2020 SCO National, earlier he won Letsup MCA GP Blitz 5 and now he won One Belt One Road International Blitz and Rapid. The tournament had qualifiers and knockout stage. Reigning Women's World Champion Ju Wenjun and former World Cup winner and World Championship Challenger Boris Gelfand 's participation made sure the tournament is a really strong one. Next stop India on Magnus Carlsen's Champions Chess Tour

About a month ago Champions Chess Tour was announced which would consist of $1.5 Million prize fund. The tour will have ten online tournaments comprising of various elite players all across the world. The first edition got over on Magnus' 30th birthday on 30th November and it was won by the reigning Fischer Random Official World Champion Wesley So. The next event starts on 26th December and it will be a Major event, the first of three in the Tour. It will have a total prize fund of $200000 and will feature twelve players. Super Juniors Cup day 5 was full of action and all drama one could expect. 14th world champion Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Gelfand, Anish Giri, Teimour Radjabov, Vidit Gujrathi, Surya Sekhar Ganguly and everyone else enjoyed the rich analysis and commentary for the exciting 23 games that was played on the final day. Nihal Sarin won the Super Juniors Cup by beating Abhimanyu Puranik 3.5-2.5 in the Semi-Finals and Arjun Erigaisi by 4.5-1.5 in the Finals. Super Juniors Cup had an amazing day 3 as IM Aronyak Ghosh eliminated GM Gukesh and IM Aditya Mittal delivered a checkmate to GM Praggnanandhaa. Day 3 witnessed five whitewashes and two Armageddons. IM Rahul Srivasthav played his second Armageddon of the event, unlike the previous occasion, this time he was not victorious. GM Raunak Sadhwani and GM Iniyan P are the only two player to have two whitewash in the entire event. Quarter-Finals will start tomorrow from 3 p.m. IST with a best of six games per match. Super Juniors Cup: Isha impressive against Praggnanandhaa

Super Juniors Cup had an interesting day 2 as Vantika beat Aryan Chopra on the very first game of the day and Isha stretched Praggnanandhaa to his limit. Raunak, Iniyan and Praggnanandhaa took only three games to win their respective matches. 50% of the matches needed only three games to decide a victor today. GM Arjun Erigaisi, IM Arjun Kalyan, IM Rathanvel and IM Rahul Srivasthav advance to Round 2 along with the previously mentioned winners. IM Rahul Srivasthav won the only Armageddon of the day. Poland wins the first FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities

The first edition of FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities came to an end on 2nd December 2020 when Poland 1 beat Russia 3-1. Poland 1 lost the first match by 2.5-1.5 but they made a good comeback in their second encounter to clinch the Gold. Russia 1 had to settle for Silver and Ukraine 3 won the Bronze by beating Poland 3 by 2.5-1.5 and 3-1 respectively in the Finals. Four Indian team took part in the event but neither of them advanced to the Final stage. India 2 finished 13th with 9.0/14 while India 1 finished at 18th position with also 9.0/14. Photo: FIDE
